Job Summary
Server and Storage Infrastructure (SSI) plans, implements, and supports the storage, Unix and Windows computing infrastructures for the Bank, including directory services, virtual infrastructure, application servers, NAS/SAN, and enterprise backup. The group provides technical consulting to project teams and clients for special line-of-business applications, either custom-made or off-the-shelf, and configures, integrates and implements these special applications on request.
As an IT Specialist/Senior IT Specialist reporting to the SSI Manager, you take part in the design, implementation, and third-level support of the Bank’s Linux/Unix-based infrastructure and tools. Unix administrator know-how is key.
Responsibilities
design, implement, and support the Unix-related and Linux infrastructure
configure and maintain SunMC Solaris maintenance and monitoring utility
Screening Criteria
university or college degree in computer science or engineering
a minimum of five years of practical experience in the IT industry
advanced knowledge of SUN server hardware
advanced knowledge of the Solaris 8 Operating System
Position Requirements
English or French essential
expert knowledge of and experience in Solaris administration and troubleshooting
expert knowledge of and experience with security safeguards for server hardening and authentication
expert knowledge of and experience with networking technologies, including TCP/IP, IPSEC, SMTP, NNTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SAMBA, DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH
knowledge of and experience with development tools — sh, ksh, perl, java
knowledge of and experience with NIS
knowledge of and experience with Red Hat Linux distribution
knowledge of and experience with centralized disk (SAN, NAS) and tape technologies
general knowledge of Oracle databases
Assets
certification (SCSA) with the Solaris 8 Operating System
