Overview
The Human Resources
Management Research Group provides decision-makers in the
private, public and not-for-profit sectors with knowledge and
insights on key people related issues such as talent
management, health and wellness, diversity, HR metrics,
employee engagement, and workforce planning. Our
services include executive networking opportunities,
educational seminars, primary and secondary research and print
publications. We are seeking
an experienced researcher with strong quantitative and
qualitative skills to assist us with our work
as Senior Research Associate. This is a permanent
full-time position located in Ottawa.
Reporting to the
Director, Human Resources Management Research, the Senior
Research Associate will be part of a professional research
team dedicated to enhancing and delivering a wide variety of
research services to customers on current and emerging
topics on human resources management and organizational
development.

candidate will combine excellent research capabilities with
strong communication and project management skills.
Working in a fast paced environment this position requires an
ability to respond quickly to multiple stakeholders. As a Senior Research
Associate you will be expected to keep up-to-date on key HR
issues, develop a strategic research program, oversee and
conduct major research projects of varying complexities, and
write publication quality research reports. Excellent oral and advanced written communication skills in
addition to a strong customer service orientation and an
inquisitive mind are essential.
Principal Duties
Identify and execute research
projects of varying complexity on new and emerging issues
in human resources management and organizational
development .
Analyze and
quickly translate complex research results into key
messages for senior executives and decision makers and
decision makers; write
high quality reports and media-friendly articles on a
broad range of organizational performance topics.
Speak with
authority on Human Resource Management issues, providing
insights to customers through presentations at
conferences and business meetings.
Manage projects
to ensure deliverables are on-time, within budget and meet
client expectations .
Interpret and
respond to research requests from customers; develop
surveys (mail, fax, telephone, on-line), conduct
literature searches/reviews, analyze results and report findings.
Communicate effectively with senior executives
on a regular basis to identify their needs, build strong
relationships and deliver excellent product and
customer service .
Identify and
secure business development opportunities.
Skills & Qualifications
A post-graduate degree in
either Business, the Humanities, Sociology or related discipline.
6-10 years of experience in
a professional research environment with responsibility for handling complex
projects from inception to completion.
Demonstrated understanding of
quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including: literature
reviews, interviews, case studies, surveys, and quantitative data analysis .
Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability
to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all
levels.
Ability to write clearly, concisely and quickly ;
published work would be an asset .
Ability to communicate research findings to audiences of senior practitioners ;
demonstrated experience with delivering formal presentations to executive
audiences.
Proficiency in the use of
statistical software such as SPSS and MS Office
tools .
Bilingualism would be a definite asset.
