Security The position requires the minimum of a Secret level clearance. The clearance process will be initiated for the successful candidate.

Job Summary Reporting to the Vice-President, Strategic and Public Affairs, and as a member of the management team, the Director will be responsible for the development of communications management frameworks and infrastructures; planning and directing the full range of internal and external communications, and is the principal spokesperson for CATSA. As well the Director advises on strategic communications plans and initiatives including media relations, media monitoring and public relations advice to the Board of Directors and senior management within CATSA. The Director liaises with government offices and stakeholders, ensures the preparation of briefings and the provision of strategic communications advice to the CEO, and develops and nurtures a close liaison with the national and international press.
Education The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree in communications or related field plus a minimum of seven years experience in media or governmental or corporate communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training, professional accreditation and experience.
Experience The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a communications strategist and problem solver. Previous management experience supervising employees and multi-faceted projects is also required.
Knowledge The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the Canadian Air Transportation Security Authority (CATSA) organizational structure, mandate, priorities and its interrelationship with other internal/external government, industry and public sector stakeholders.
Knowledge of the Access to Information and Privacy Acts will be considered an asset.
Additional Requirements Along with the excellent professional, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills needed to succeed in an environment that is fast paced and service-oriented, the position demands an individual that can be flexible, creative and innovative. The ability to communicate effectively in both official languages is essential.
