We are a Digital Games Based Learning company based in Ottawa, Canada and we are seeking a Senior Software Designer/Developer with Extensive background in Java development.

Now on to the details:
We want a Software Engineer with extensive Java and Eclipse plugin development experience especially with EMF, GEF, and GMF.
You must have a strong object-oriented programming background that demonstrates a compelling history of innovation and execution.
You will help architect, design and develop Java application using Eclipse plug-in technology.
This position requires knowledge of project planning, software development cycles and project management.
This is a unique opportunity to work with the latest game development technologies and be able to contribute to the development of future game applications and UI.
Responsibilities:
- Gather requirements, Plan, design, develop and implement Java applications, components, User interfaces, and Java libraries for game related applications.
- Use Java/Eclipse to Design, Code and Debug UI Components that perform well and that deliver a superior User Interface Experience to end-user.
- Work on multiple projects from requirements generation through design, specification, coding, and debugging.
- Extensive knowledge of Java, Eclipse Plugin, XML and web development.
- Define, innovate and document processes and best practices for software engineering.
- Work closely with QA engineers to ensure quality throughout the development cycle.
- Self-manage tasks and schedules.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Four-year college degree, Computer Science preferred.
- Minimum five years experience developing and producing Java applications.
- JAVA, C# programming language
- Knowledge of UML and design tools.
- Software development methodology and design patterns.
- Eclipse and Eclipse plugin development (EMF, GEF, and GMF).
- Five or more years experience in commercial software development, including OO programming.
- Strong portfolio that includes numerous examples of advanced programming skills.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team mates.
- Ability to work closely with customers, understand their requirements and deliver accordingly.
- Motivated self-starter who likes working on very productive, fast-paced teams.
- Work with other developers to design features and write detailed specifications.
- Write test plans and develop both unit tests and web applications as defined by the test plan.
- Define test scenarios that represent key use cases and workflows.
- Ability to analyze, isolate and document complex technical issues.
- Ability to achieve results with little supervision or direction.
- Ability to explore and champion new tools, techniques and processes.
