POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be part of the conformance engineerining team responsible for running and analyzing protocol certification results on 3GPP mobiles across multiple air interfaces such as GPRS, UMTS, and HSDPA. The candidate will offer coaching and mentoring for the team to facilitate overall product certification. The candidate should have good time management skills to handle multiple high priority tasks during peak testing and product development intervals. In addition the candidate will contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve the performance of our automated certification framework by: implementing new features and automating new certification equipment. The candidate will also participate of RIM applied research projects which will provide opportunities to gain further expertise into Wireless protocols. The candidate should be prepared to attend standards meeting to represent RIMs interests in certification test suite development and improvements.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have obtained an undergraduate degree (Computer SC/Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
2 years GCF and PTCRB protocol certification experience is a must
Demonstrated detailed 3GPP L2 and L3 protocol knowledge
Experience with embedded programming
Excellent understanding of Java and C++ is a must.
Socket and multithreaded programming is also a must
Knowledge of Java/J2ME will be considered an asset
Good troubleshooting skills will be an essential asset.
GCF and PTCRB protocol certification experience is a plus.
3GPP L2 and L3 detailed protocol knowledge
Candidate must have relevant work experience in the wireless industry
Candidate should have team lead experience
