Founded in 1979, the Schizophrenia Society of Canada (SSC) is a national registered charity. Using a federation model, SSC works with 10 provincial societies and their over 100 chapters/branches to improve the quality of life for those affected by schizophrenia and psychosis through education, support programs, public policy, and research. To this end, SSC and its provincial affiliates carry out public awareness & education, support, advocacy and research funding initiatives and programs.
Reporting directly to the Board President, the CEO manages a staff of 4 with a national office operating budget of $1.1million in addition to overseeing a research fund of $1.5 million.
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, knowledgeable person who can continue to translate the vision and mission of the Society into reality. You possess a solid track record in advocacy, public policy, communications, planning, media, government and public relations. You are comfortable with all aspects of financial and staff management and you have a knowledge of mental illnesses and services or ability to quickly acquire it. Bilingualism would also be an asset.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for all aspects of the operations including revenue development, planning, administrative & financial management as well as government, public and external/internal multi-stakeholder relations.
